Singapore I

July 12th, 2008

I have arrived in Singapore last week. The last week i was busy trying to find a place for longer stay as i am planing to stay here until september.

This is quite hard, as the places are either too expensive, far away or just shity. And as I know my luck i will probably end up with a place that combines all these attributes.

Otherwise I am quite nice. I started on the internship and the work I am doing there is very interesting. Unfortnuatly is the workplace situated so bad that it is especially hard to find a close accommodation.

To answer the question that I get asked the last few days at least twenty times: How do you like Singapore? Well its ok. Its a nice city where there is nothing much to do, besides shopping! Otherwise its nice here.

Greetings to all that are at home, or on travel, wherever they are.

Singapore Not PRC

Its time

April 11th, 2008

At last; I found some time to write a little, or better to say I took the time.
Well many things happened since the last time I wrote a post, well it was a long time. I lived myself into the life here. Taiwan is great. In the beginning it was much too cold but now it is actually quite nice. As I told last time I went to sun-moon lake. But I also traveled to Kenting,(south Taiwan), Malaysia.

I wrote page about my university and my life here in taiwan link is on the right called big politics and taipei–>

February 27th, 2008

Since tonight is my computer working again. Unfortnuatly I have no time as I will be going out any minute and leave for Sun Moon Lake early tomorrow in the morning. I will take care of the blog as soon as I am bad. Then there will be new stories about taiwan and pictures from my traveling and partying.

A quick note from Taipei

February 24th, 2008

Well I am here for a week and am against some belives still alive. I am only really busy right now partying and trying to find out what courses to take.

I also couldn’t fix my computer yet: my power adapter is broken. But I ordered a new one and it should arrive this week. As soon as that happens I will be back with more news from my great first week and all the parties. I also plan to upload some pictures.

Well unfortnuatly I got back to organise a soccer game tonight and wish everybody at home a great time.

First Impressions

February 17th, 2008

The best way to describe my first impression of Taiwan is “friendly grey”.

“friendly” because even though no of my buddies picked me up I got a lot of help from totall strangers. My neighbours on the plane showed me which bus to take to the central station. I guy I met in the airport told me which station to get of. So they seem allways eager to help.

“grey” because the weather. I was arriving around noon time and I had the feeling it was allready around 7 pm. It was just such bad weather. Well that seems to be quite typical here.

Rushing through ruins

February 17th, 2008

I arrived at the old Bangkok airport around noon time. I had the choice of either going back into the city Bangkok or not. Well i decided to take a train right from the airport to the a city north of Bangkok called Ayuthaya. It is really famous for it ruins. I arrived there quite late so I started my sight seeing tour around 4 pm and the first sights closed at 4:30 pm. So i took a motorcycle taxi there and ended up visiting 6 sights in just two hours.

The next morning I went back to Bangkok, had lunch with the partner of my parents got my lunch and stayed at a nice hotel near the office which only has a 30 min drive to the airport. The reason for that was that I still had to leave at 5 am to get to the airport on time.

On Party night

February 17th, 2008

After leaving Koh Phi Phi I travelled to Phuket by boat knowing that I had a flight the next day to Bangkok. I first had a look at a couple of hotels and ended up going into one that had a nice room for 600 baths. Unfortnuatly I didn’t spend a lot time in it though.

At seven o clock I left my hotel to find some food. That took a while and I ended up having some at a cookshop after that I went into a bar and from there on I was going out with two other guys, one Dutch and one German. We spend some time in that bar and then searched for a club. So at about 1 am we found one, but we only could drink one beer until it was closing. So we asked some people at a table near us where you go next. They told us and so we tried to find a taxi. Just as we searched for it one girl and a boy from the group drove pas by us and asked us if we need a ride. So we were travelling with them to the next club. On the way I tried to get money from the atm but that didn’t work, so I got allcohol from the thai girl we just met. I suppose normally it is the other way around. Anyway the left us after driving us to the next club. The one from before closed at 3 pm. There we stayed an hour or so. At that time I had to decide wheather I go back to my hotel sleep four hours and get up to catch my plane or if I just don’t sleep at all. I ended up doing the secound one.

I came back to the hotel at 7 in the morning and had to leave at 9 am. It was a fun night in phuket even though I should have taken a cheaper hotel.

Dream Island or not?

February 12th, 2008

After I spend a day in Krabi not doing anymore than walking through the streets I took the boat at 3 pm to Phi Phi Islands.

As our boat arrived in the bay, I was stunned by the gorgeous landscape of the Islands. It has carst Cliffs but also white beaches with turkies water. Really beautiful!

Very unfortnuatly I made the mistake arriving on lunar new year with the late ferry. This had the conclusion that there were no more rooms under 2000 baths and now chance to go back to mainland. So I ended up paying 2000 baths for a crapy, loud room, which even though it had AC would no where else be sold over 500 baths.

The next day I searched for a new room. I found some for 800 but these were to close to the party area. So I took the next higher class for 1200 baths. This actually still a lot of money but I got my own bamboo bungalow on a somewhat private beach which really was nice.

I ended up spending four nights on Koh Phi Phi. I did a discover scuba diving one day course and spend a lot time either on the beach or eating food, which was really great.

So is Koh Phi Phi a dream island? For some it still may be, for me it is definitivly to crowded. It may have the perfect landscape but there a lot to many tourist.

The discover scuba dive was great. I done two dives with a dept up to 12 meters. We were both times down to about nine. We had the look to see three turtles, a lot of small fishes and two sharks. Yes two sharks! One zebra shark and one black tip shark. The black tip shark around a length of 1.20 meters and the zebra about 1.60 meters.

A little weired was the meeting with the black tip shark because we were just ascending when we spoted the shark. He was kind of circling us. I was about two or three meters away from the rest of my diving group when the shark was coming our direction or better to say my direction. He directly aiming in my direction and just turned about two meters away from me.

We actually dived near koh Phi Phi leh. As phi phi islands actually consist of two islands phi phi leh and phi phi don. Only don is inhabited, leh is famous because the film the beach was shooted on it. I was diving quite close to that beach.

I also had my best food on Koh Phi Phi so far. It was fish (even the cook couldn’t tell me which) in sweet sour spicy sauce.
